Songwriters Contest

In conjunction with the Alabama
Pecan Festival Celebration, an Annual Event since 1988.
All songwriters are asked to contribute an
original song or songs COMPLETE WITH MELODY & LYRICS.
The contest scheduled date is Thursday,
October 30th at 5:00 p.m. at the Tillman's Corner Community Center, 5055
Carol Plantation Road in the auditorium.
Each entry must be accompanied by an
application form, six copies of the lyrics, and an entry fee of $10.00
for each song submitted. All fees must be paid by money order made
payable to Alabama Pecan Festival.
All applications must be submitted between September 15th and October 25th
of each year. (Late entries will be accepted upon approval but
must be submitted with all forms and fees before performance.)
All
songs will be judged equally based on the following:
Lyric continuity, Lyric style, Overall
Lyric story
Originality of words and concept
Melody
The field of
entries may be narrowed down to 25 selections or less to be performed
live before the judges and audience at the Alabama Pecan Festival.

To Enter...
Fill out and return the entry form with with six copies of the
lyrics and a $10.00 entry fee for each song submitted. (money order
should be made payable to Alabama Pecan Festival and entry fee for more
than one song may be combined on one money order.)
Submit...
Six copies of the lyrics (Typed format or legible print)
A cassette tape or CD recording of the performance of the song
$10.00 ENTRY FEE FOR EACH SONG SUBMITTED
(money order made payable to Alabama Pecan Festival).
Instruments are limited to a single Guitar or Sung Acappella
Tapes or CD's become the property of the contest and will not be
returned
The decision of the judges will be impartial and FINAL

The field of entry will perform live
before the judges and audience at the Alabama Pecan Festival on stage
inside the Tillman's Corner Community Center, located at 5055 Carol
Plantation Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619, Thursday, October 30th,
2008 beginning at 5:00 p.m.
ALL CONTESTANTS SHOULD BE IN THE BUILDING
AT THE DESIGNATED SITE NO LATER THAN 4:30 P.M. (ANY EXCEPTIONS MUST BE
APPROVED PRIOR TO THE CONTEST BEGINNING).
This contest is not affiliated with any
other organizations or groups and is solely for the purpose of promoting
songwriters in a venue that will give exposure to their talent and
creativity.
